Many pilgrims ask us why we continue to stay in the Holy Land: our mission is to be here in these places that are so important for all Christians. The whole world looks toward Jerusalem, and Jerusalem must in turn look toward the whole Christian world. We are here, we pray here and we are in union with the entire Church and on behalf of the entire Church. The capacity for dialogue and to build comes from this starting position, which is why so many return home with the Holy Land in their hearts. And it is why many others decide to collaborate in the action to safeguard the Christian tradition and memory.
